Your game account is only as safe as your email
Hours of progress, your alliance, your rank: almost everything you have in a game can be recovered, or lost, through one email address. Here is how to protect it, in six habits that take minutes.
Why your email is the real key
Most games, stores and community sites let you reset access through your email. That makes your inbox the master key: whoever gets into it can usually get into everything linked to it.
At HΞXHQ there is no password at all. You sign in with a one time link we send to your email, so there is no password for us to store or for anyone to steal from us. The flip side is simple: your email is your key, and it deserves the best lock you can give it.
What usually goes wrong
The reused password
A site you used years ago leaks its passwords. If your email shares that password, someone can walk right in.
The "free rewards" trap
Fake gift code pages ask you to sign in or share a code to claim a prize. Real codes are redeemed inside the game, never by handing over your login.
The forwarded link
A sign in link or code is a key. A screenshot shared in a chat is enough for someone else to use it before it expires.
The everything inbox
Bank, work, family and games in one address: if it falls, it all falls together, and its spam buries the messages that matter.
Six habits that protect you
1. One email just for games
A separate address keeps your gaming accounts apart from your bank, work and family. If one leaks, the rest stay safe.
2. Two step verification
Turn it on in your email first. With it, a stolen password is not enough to get in. An authenticator app is safer than text messages.
3. Aliases for sign ups
An alias forwards to your real inbox. Use a different one per site: if one starts getting spam, you turn it off and your real address was never shown.
4. A unique password, saved for you
Your email password should exist nowhere else. A password manager remembers it so you don't have to reuse anything.
5. Never forward sign in links
Not to friends, not to your alliance, not as a screenshot. HΞXHQ will never ask you for one.
6. Check before you claim
A prize that asks for your login is not a prize. Redeem codes only inside the game or on its official site.

Private email: what it adds
A private email service is built so that your messages are not the product. The ones below are well known in privacy circles; all of them work to sign in to HΞXHQ, and none of them is required.
| Service | What it is | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Proton Mail | Encrypted email from Switzerland, free plan | A new private inbox just for games |
| Tuta | Encrypted email from Germany, free plan | A new private inbox |
| SimpleLogin | Aliases from the Proton team, free plan | Keeping the email you already have |
| Firefox Relay | Free aliases from Mozilla | Quick aliases from your browser |
| DuckDuckGo Email Protection | Free @duck.com addresses that strip trackers | Fewer trackers in your inbox |
Our pick for most players: a free Proton Mail address used only for games, with two step verification on. It takes a few minutes, it separates your game life from everything else, and it keeps your messages private. If you would rather keep your current inbox, an alias from SimpleLogin or Firefox Relay gets you most of the benefit.

Your turn
Have you seen a fake gift code page or a scam aimed at players? Warn the community in the comments so nobody else falls for it. Please never post email addresses, sign in links or codes there.
